Midnight Oil Workshop
This site is all about our quest to share our creative energy with the people around us. We are the home of The Signmobile - a distinctive mobile sign shop in the Tampa Bay area. You'll also find special projects including vinyl boat name lettering & striping installations, non-profit outreach for local nature resources - and hand-made woodworking creations.

It's a lot to keep track of, so this website has been crafted to connect us with people who are interested in the things that we do best. Local vinyl boat names: designed, created and installed anywhere in the greater Tampa Bay area - on land or in water. Friends of Shell Key Preserve is a non-profit group of nature, camping and boating enthusiasts devoted public environmental outreach about this local preserve.

There's a point in life when you ask yourself what really matters most. For me, part of that answer lies in improving the lives of small caged pets by designing humane, engaging and easily cleaned habitats for them.

Over 20 years of experience means your lettering will be done efficiently, affordably - and with the highest of quality.
If possible, please attach an image of your boat.
Boat images should be wide shots from directly in front of the area to be lettered (not an angle if possible).
It's great to live and work in Florida's beautiful Gulf Coast.
The home range of the Signmobile spans the Tampa Bay area from Tarpon Springs in the north - to Tampa on the east side of the bay - and south to Bradenton and Sarasota.
Centrally located in St. Petersburg and near all of the area's Gulf Beaches, I am just a hop skip or a jump from anywhere in the greater Tampa Bay area.
I know - it seems a little ambitious for a small sign shop to serve such a large area.
That's why I specialize in onsite vinyl lettering.
As a kid, I dreamt of having a Something-mobile.
I wasn't sure exactly what kind of mobile I wanted - but I knew it had to have a noble mission.
It had to serve the community.
And, ideally, it would come with a matching uniform for me to wear.
Well, life doesn't usually turn out exactly like we imagined at age 10, but some things do remain the same.
And in the end, we must be true to our own nature.
That's why I built, drive and operate the Signmobile.
But hey, everyone has their niche.
And this one helps me to share a unique and helpful service using the skills that I've honed in a variety of disciplines.
Large fishing boats have a big transom with plenty of room for a big boat name.
And yet, motor yachts of equal size very often have only a small hull section that is suitable for a boat name.
The difference, of course, is a matter of function.
Fishing boats need a wide transom to make room for multiple people with fishing gear - while motor yachts (especially newer models) are designed with an open stern and a large swim platform for easy access to the water and recreation.
During the drafting process for a boat name, I like to use a picture of the boat as a backdrop to make the most out of the size and shape of the available hull area.
