In sign industry terminology, Vinyl letters are letters cut from an adhesive-backed vinyl. This vinyl can have a variety of properties and qualities. It can be opaque, translucent, glossy, flat, or reflective. Unfortunately, not all vinyls are created equally, and the properties of a given vinyl will directly impact how the vinyl performs. Tierney Signs was first started in 1978 by John J. Tierney.
It was operated out of a small brick garage behind the house.
As the business grew, so did the need for space, and a second larger garage was built next to the first.
The business continued to grow, and eventually the shop was moved to grass lake rd. in Antioch, IL.
Things continued to progress, the family moved out of the house where the previous shop was operated, and so the business moved back to it's previous location, but now it occupies the bottom floor of the house (and the attached garage, and the two previously mentioned garages.)
