In 2014 we were awarded the Sebasticook Valley Chamber of Commerce's "Business of the Year" award.
The next year, 2015, we won the Chamber's "Delmar Doody Award".
This award was created to recognize members who have a record of contributing significantly to the goals of the Chamber as well as promoting the work and the benefit of the Chamber to the communities of the region.
We both come from art-related backgrounds and both of us have taught art classes in the past.
Linda has continued in painting and has somehow managed to find time to produce enough work to have some one-person shows in recent years and be in various group shows around Maine.

It's no secret that Maine offers a harsh environment that is a challenge to anything that is out in the weather.
So we take care to produce signs that have the best chance of standing up to the dampness, cold and sun.
Fighting the elements starts with finding and using the highest quality materials.
Then it's taking the time in preparation and actual production to make sure things are done right; the wood is dry, the edges are taken care of, the paint goes on at the right temperature, etc.

Research has shown that people don't usually read a sign, they "look" at it.
They only "see" about seven words on a sign that make the impression and tell them what they want to know.
The principle comes from billboard advertising and is based on the fact that people driving at high rates of speed only have time to comprehend seven words.
We don't do billboards, but we do have some of our signs in places where the traffic is traveling pretty fast.
So we encourage brevity and simplicity and feel it is the most effective way to inform, persuade and be remembered.

A "substrate" in sign-making refers to the physical material the sign is made of.
Choice of substrate is usually determined by the purpose of the sign and generally involves how long the sign needs to last.
Substrate materials range in size, weight and thickness, which all affect the overall cost.
Corrugated plastic is used mostly for temporary signs, the ones you see for election signs, yard sales, contractors signs, real estate signs and site signs for new construction projects.
Aluminum composite material, also known as Alumilite and Dibond, is made of thin layers of aluminum with a PVC core.
